NEWS ARCHIVES
September 9th 2004
Greetings friends! First off, an apology for taking so long to update. The new site is running extremely well, but I haven't had a chance to update it due to a busy summer and an even busier move to southern Illinois.
ENGLAND
In July I was able to go to London for about 9 days. Needless to say, it was one
of the best experiences of my life. We went to see all the tourist sites of
course, but I also got plenty of chances to prowl around London, and also to
hang out with the lovely and talented MEG LEE CHIN! (Pigface, Crunch, etc.) We
talked music, I drank tea, she dubbed videos, and as a fan, I was blown away by
the chance to chill face to face with such an amazing person.
One of the most spiritual and magical places in history, Stonehenge was amazing
to behold. You could feel the energy there, despite the loads of people tromping
around it. It is now my dream to record something there someday; if not a Flood
Damage song or other industrial madness, then at least a field recording. Some
say it's smaller than they expected, but if nothing else, nay-sayers had to
admit that it was at least better than "pudding-henge."
One more "fun" and "whimsical" picture before I move on to
other things. This is a group of us (I'm on the far left) in the fountains at
Trafalgar Square. It's not often you get to fly halfway across the world to jump
around like idiots in one of the world's most famous fountains. We took full
advantage of the opportunity, as you can plainly see.
WRITING
For those of you who enjoy my writing, I put up another one of my plays. Entitled "Syn/tax," it was written as sort of an exploration of language, and how often times when people are attempting to be philosophical or intellectual, they really aren't saying anything of substance at all. It's been somewhat successful, receiving a couple of productions here and there over time, and finding its way into the MSU literary magazine "The Coup" last year. I hope you enjoy it, and you'll find it on the Other Stuff page, as usual.
GUITARIST
I am happy to report that Flood Damage has found a new guitarist, or at least someone who is excited about the possibilities of collaboration. Please join me in giving a big round of applause to Craig from the St. Louis music scene (You can clap at your computer, he won't mind). Craig used to play a number of instruments in an industrial group called Broken Mirrors, and at least for the time being, it sounds like he's ready to help Flood Damage burn down the southern Illinois scene! More news on that as we progress toward a more concrete musical relationship.
That's about it for now, but let me just say that this town rocks. Really, it does, you can see how much it rocks by clicking here. Also, you can look for new songs going up for download very soon. Graduate school is keeping me quite busy here, thus my failure to update on a more regular basis recently. Hope you're all having a great fall, and drop lines any time...

July 8th 2004
Another Miasma track has been added to the sounds page: Earth is Almost All Right. I've been told it's very beautiful, I hope you think so too. Also, one more writing, a short story called Gumball, has been added to the Other Stuff area. It took 3rd prize in the 2001 NDSF writing contest, so hopefully you'll dig it. More server space for the site means more content!

New live pictures in the Photos section from our last show (April Fools Day 2004) and also some extra goodies in the Other Stuff, like a news story on that show.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! (support independent music)
Welcome to the brand new home of Gerbil Probe Records! From this ivory tower, we'll be flooding the world with new music, new artistic endeavors and hopefully new ideas as well. This has been a long time in coming. Please note my new email address: flood@gerbilprobe.com There will be more updates as time permits, since as many of you already know I will be relocating to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL for the next several years of university life. There are a lot of wonderful things in the works, including a new comp from our friends at Innervenus Records and probably something full of even more Flood Damage laced goodness later in the year. Stay tuned for the revolution!
UPDATES GALORE!
A number of things have been updated on the site in honor of the new address and the impending move across the country including the Bio and Sounds stuff for Flood Damage and Miasma. Also, I've decided to use some of that wonderful server space and post some of my creative writing. Check for that under the Other Stuff section on the menu. Check out some of the new content, and let me know what you think!

August 12th, 2003 - HUGE UPDATE! ADD 10 INCHES TO YOUR GIRTH NOW! GET FREE CABLE!
COMPILATION MANIA
Exciting News!!! Flood Damage will be appearing on TWO great compilation albums, both coming this Fall!
Innervenus Art & Musek, a label out of Pittsburgh, PA will be releasing a compilation of original music in October featuring all kinds of bands and projects. Flood Damage has been chosen to contribute to this exciting new album, and the CD will feature our infamous show-opener "Turn on the Ugly Lights," which has not (until now) seen the light of day in recorded form. This will be your first chance to hear the new FD stuff before I (eventually) release another CD, so support the hard working underground artists and labels out there and stay tuned for this one! Should be a barn-burner!
In addition to the above, a remix album is being put together featuring mixes by the amazing Chicago mixologist and musician, headache of the project cEOXIME. His stellar remix of Flood Damage track "Ovoid Vovoid" will be featured on this CD, along with tons of great songs from other bands such as LiveSexAct, Noxious Emotion, Croc Shop, Things Outside the Skin and more! Some big names here, and I'm very excited to be a part of the project! This should be released in the Fall as well, as artwork and contractual obligations are being taken care of as we speak!
More information on these discs can be found at the respective sites of the artists, and I'll be updating as info becomes available!
NEW FREE SONGS
Partly as a celebration of the above, I've made several new songs available for download at the MP3 site.
Turn on the Ugly Lights - Hear this stomper in advance of the comp. to get a taste of what's new.
SExEE - My industrial Barry White song. Use it to make love to your ol' lady by. And don't get anything on the carpet!
;;; [semicolonic] - REMASTERED! Originally released on the 2001 album, "underlife" this has been remixed and EQed!!!
Check them out today, and please feel free to email any comments you have. I love hearing from people about the music!
MIASMA
Please welcome a new ambient project to Gerbil Probe, MIASMA! This FD side-project is designed to allow my more melodic, softer side a place to roam. So far, reviews have been good, but I'm anxious to see what everyone thinks out there in internet land. Take a listen to pure ambient goodness and drop me a line. There are two tracks up, HERE.
PICS
I finally got around to posting some new (to you) Flood Damage pics, so check those out too. There are a couple of changed promo shots, and some of the live pics from the last Halloween show. Ain't we cute?
Well, that's it for now. Write in with questions, comments, comets, camels, cockroaches, colonoscopies, and other c-words. Oh, and promoting this might be a mistake, but if you really want to read more of my stuff (including longer pieces, such as short stories and personal rants) I have a "free open diary." HERE IT IS. Let me know what you think. Cheers!
UNTIL NEXT TIME, LOVE AND DAMAGE...
June, FRIDAY THE 13th, 2003
Hey everyone! Hope you're having a day full of walking under ladders, hanging around with black cats, and saying "MACBETH" in theatrical venues! I felt I would be remiss if I didn't throw out an update on one of my favorite days! Sorry it's been so long, but good things will be happening soon, I think, and of course I'll let you all know what's up...
REMIXOLOGY
Well, the remix album (tentatively titled either view from an underlife or flood damage vs. the chicken) will be coming out soon, likely self-released again on our own little local label, Gerbil Probe Records. Hopefully for the next full length, we'll be able to find distribution and label support. More on that as it comes.
The
remixers thus far include such great acts as:
Things Outside the Skin
Hypoid
cEOXIME
Ungeziefer
Naked Seconds
Acclimate
Concept 7
and more! It's sounding great, and I'll also be including a couple of new
tracks, and possibly a cover or two. Stay tuned for the final track listing and
new MP3s sometime in the next several weeks!
Until next time, much love and damage...

By the way, these make great Christmas gifts for your freaky friends, and if you buy more than one copy at the site, I have made it so you'll get 30% off your order! (Because I love you.) Please, tell your friends! It's people like you all who spread the word!
If you are a friend or fan that has a copy already, please go there and write a review! (They provide a space to do so on the page.) It would really help me out, and it won't even take up much of your time, I promise. Thanks!
FLOOD DAMAGE MP3s
There are new songs up at the MP3 site. Click the Sounds link on the menu, or just click here. One is the infamous song about the ex-wife, Mr. Blind and the Estrogenical Treachery. The other little gem is a sneak preview of the upcoming remix album. Discontent as remixed by my good buddy Hypoid.
NINJA PEANUT BENDERS
Gerbil Probe Records is proud to announce the collaboration between chinchilla and eggplant to create the car-chase Japanese movie-monster kung-fu sensation, NINJA PEANUT BENDERS. More about this mystical mystery project as time permits. (Which may be never.) For now, listen to the tracks that are up, and let us know how you feel about... well... you know.
PICTURES
The Halloween show went off without too many hitches, and we entertained people (and beat them) within inches of their lives. xBJx, leader of all things at That One Place took pictures, so thank him if you see him. They're up on the official site, under the pics section. Aren't we cute?
ACID
Flood Damage tracks (including some exclusive remixes for other people) are up on ACID PLANET. You can listen to them and review them. It's spiffy. Check it out.

damage is coming again...
We're gonna tear the roof off the sucka! (As Mr. T would say. If he were high on gas fumes.) Aaron and I have been putting some time and money into special effects and building our ever-growing army of the undead. Er... our STAGE SHOW. Right. We'll be playing last, closing the night, as far as I know.
Make sure you come! Who knows... there might even be a fallen angel handing out goodies there...

UNGEZIEFER VIDEO
Our most bizarre twisted genius, Dustin, is working on a video project featuring his musical and artistic vision. Details will follow as updates occur. Knowing Ungeziefer, this should be a mind-rending work of pure art-terrorism!
JUST LIKE JERRY LEWIS
That's right! We're big in FRANCE. Thanks to the DJ and all around swell guy, Walter Pluquet, a MUTE EUNUCHS track showed up on the Industrial/EBM/Alternative show SAMPLER & SANS REPROCHES in France this past week! Check out his website today and help support those who support us!
SAMPLER & SANS REPROCHES Radioshow & Webzine
FLOOD DAMAGE REMIXED
Work continues on the Flood Damage remix album. I have received several great mixes back from such acts as Hypoid, Concept7, and Things Outside the Skin, and expect more soon from some of our own, as well as some more NOTES bands. As soon as mp3.com fixes it's upload script, I plan to put a few of the mixes online to give you all a taste of what's to come!
I'm also returning the favor and doing mixes for Concept7 and Hypoid, and making some friends in the process!
Speaking of friends, check out Blue Eyed Christ's new album "American Whore." It's GREAT stuff.

April 15, 2002
Hello everyone! Our favorite absinthe laced, chinchilla loving madman NAiVE has finally put up a brand spankin' new homepage of his very own. It's very nice. You should stop by and say hello, and while you're there check out his art and music.
April 1, 2002
Hey everybody! Hope you're all well, and that the Easter Bunny brought you something interesting. I got a flamethrower.
REMIX PROJECT
That's right, get your remixing hats out of the closet, dust em' off, and see if
they still work. I have been thinking that I would like to put together a remix
album, comprised of other artists takes on tracks from underlife.
Some people have expressed interest over the last few months, so I thought I
would put out an invitation. If you might be interested, email
me today! Since this may not be happening for a little while, I would invite
you to tackle the tracks on the NFTRU 3 comp too. (APRIL 30th!!!)

Feb. 13, 2002
The first ever review of underlife is now online! Paniscus
Revue took hold of the damage and spit out a decent review, ending up doling
out 2 stars on a scale going from 0 to 4, so it's a nice solid "C" and
I can totally handle that! Check out the rest
of the site as well. Lots of great reviews all over the place!
Oh yeah, and check this out, it's funny: Book-A-Minute

Feb. 08, 2002
Hello everyone, and welcome to the new and improved Gerbil Probe Records website, home of innovative and destructive music from all over the globe. (Or at least all over town.) This update has been a long time in coming, and I am sorry for the delay, but recently things have begun to happen for me, so I decided it was time to sit my butt down at the keyboard and tell all you damage addicts, zieferheads, and committee members what's up. This main page will be the most often updated section of the site, and I should be able to keep up this time, because I have this nice, tidy new format to work with!
NOTES FROM THEE REAL UNDERGROUND VOL. 3
Yes its true, after all this time, flood damage has been lucky enough to take that first step toward spreading the damage around the globe! My favorite label, invisible records, has been releasing a wonderful series of compilation CD's called Notes From Thee Real Underground, and I have been fortunate enough to secure a position on Vol. 3 of said compilation series! These two new tracks will be available for the first time on this 2 CD set, and I'm really excited! Support the underground, and make sure that on April 30th, 2002, you are at your local CD shop requesting your own copy! (Retail price is unusually inexpensive, being somewhere around 12 bucks, give or take!!!)
The new tracks are:
Mr. Blind and the Estrogenical Treachery An oft-orchestrated quasi-punk-attitude piece about my ex-wife
13 [godforsaken] A throbbing digital hardcore attack on organized religion (ie: mind control)
Like I said, both tracks are brand spankin' new and weren't on underlife. (The last CD.) By the way, just to mention, underlife is still available (in all it's home-pressed CD-R glory) and is only 6 bucks plus 2 bucks shipping to anywhere in the US. Order one directly from me (of course) and I'll throw in a free sticker for you to stick on the family dog or the elderly. Just email me at the usual place: flood@gerbilprobe.com
You can find more out about the project at invisible
records website
NEW FLOOD DAMAGE PICS
New pics are up in the flood damage section, so be sure to check them out and tell me what you think. Some of these are absolutely awesome work, and they were all taken by Aaron Michels of the Cygnet Committee, who's work becomes more stunning by the day. (Drop him a line at decay@antisocial.com to tell him what you think, I'm sure he'd appreciate it!)
Yeah, they're all of me, but still, they're kind of cool. As time goes on, I will be adding more, and hopefully some live show shots and stuff like that.
